If you like to have an internet radio yourself, like to share some music, play some songs, enjoy being a DJ, here’s how to setup your shoutcast:
1) Download Winamp (Winamp is currently undergoing heavy changes. Check out their thread in the forum for the latest download links)
2) Download the SHOUTcast DSP Plug-In for Winamp (scroll all the way to the bottom)
3) Sign up a Free account on listen2myradio.com (required for a shoutcast server)
4) Install your radio server by filling up all the details required. (Choose UK server for Singapore – tested for more stability)
5) After installation, they will provide ip address, your username and password details. Note down the details.
** Tricky Technical Portion**
6) Go to Winamp > CTRL + P > Plugins > DSP/Effect > Click on Shoutcast Source
7) An extra window pop out. Go to Output, fill in your server address, port number, password, check the box for (use Shoutcast v1 mode). Uncheck Auto Connect.
8) Go to the 2nd tab (Directory) and fills up the name of your show and URL.
9) Go to the 3rd tab (Encoder) and set it to mp3 Encoder. Choose between 48kbps mono to 80 kbps stereo (depending on your connectivity).
10) Play songs and connect! If you wish to speak, change the input to your soundcard input. When you need to play song, switch back to winamp.
**IMPORTANT NOTE**
About listen2myradio.com
1) You need to turn on your radio server before you start shoutcast, if you have not turn on for quite some time.
2) If you failed to turn on your radio server for more than a month, they will shout your server down. Till then, just re-install the radio server and repeat from step 4 onwards.
About Winamp
1) When switching inputs, the most common problem is hang. Winamp will just crash sometimes. No for-sure solutions have been found for now. The good thing is, if you restart your winamp and reconnect fast enough, your listeners are still able to hear you without the need to refresh the screen.
