#eatclean: Chicken Noodle with Avocado Dressing

Recently I sort of force myself to eat clean because I feel that I have been binge-ing on too much seasoning food. And, even if I am not a real athletic or artist, I feel that everyone should have some consciousness about your own body management. Ultimately, it is all about your choice. Then I also thought perhaps eating clean once in a while is good to the pocket. Well, I am not sure, hence should also keep a record. One thing for sure is, once I decided to prepare my own lunch, I’m even more tight on my time since I don’t come home early. Plus, if I prepared fruit juice, I cannot leave it in the fridge for long, as it will oxidized. That would translate to, need to wake up early and do. Well, I am still contemplating this.

So this week, I tried something simple on Wednesday.

Chicken noodle with avocado dressing

=Avocado Dressing (Serves 3 and approx. 380 calories per serving) =

3 Avocados = $4.95

Half tub of Greek yogurt = $7.45/2 = $3.73

Half a lemon = $2.95/5 = $0.59 / 2 = $0.30

Total cost: $8.98

Since I only used up 1/3 of my dressing, so I shall split the cost up. $8.98/3 = $2.99

Per serving is based on one third of the dressing.

= Chicken Noodle  (Serves 1 and approx. 300 calories) =

1/2 portion of chicken fillet = $2.70 / 2 = $1.35

Enoki = Free (because I took the leftover from my bbq gathering)

1/2 Broccoli = $1.05 / 2 = $0.53

1/8 of noodle = $1.55/8 = $0.19 (wah, noodle is so cheap!)

Total cost for the noodle = $2.07

All hard boiled. No salt / sugar / pepper. Only a little of sesame oil to prevent noodle from sticking together.

Approx total calories = 683 calories.

I think I could have counted wrongly at the yogurt portion in the avocado dressing, but I always like to round up such as to be more realistic. As you can see, calories are quite high due to adding more yogurt, but yogurt has quite high protein. About 7.8g of protein per serving of the avocado dressing.

My primary objective is to eat more protein, and less carbo, yet still a balanced meal. So I started to eat a little more on the carbo.

Total for this meal is $2.07+$2.99 = $5.06.

So if you want to self prepare your lunch, is not cheap if you want to include healthy and atas ingredient since the most expensive stuff here is the avocado. I will continue to keep track another couple of times to see if it make sense to prepare lunch myself.

Watch out for more journals about #eatclean.
